WHS SOFTBALL Wildcats Suffer First Loss Of Season In Extra Innings

first_imgWILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington High School Varsity Softball team (2-1) lost a heartbreaker to Reading High by a score of 6-5 on Thursday, April 18, 2019.The Wildcats jumped out in the first inning, scoring two on RBI’s from Ally Moran and Bella Kieran. The Rockets got one back in their half of the first.In the third inning, Kacie Bourrell started the inning off with a walk. Kayla Bourrell laid down a nice bunt to have two on with no outs. Ally Moran (2-4 with 3 RBI) plated both of them with a double to centerfield. One run was given back to the Rockets on a homerun to left field.In the sixth inning, the Wildcats were up 5-3. but could not hold the lead. After a defensive mistake and passed ball, the game was tied.The Wildcats couldn’t put timely hits together and were unable to score any more runs after the fourth inning.“Today we saw some things that we have to work on, but overall it was a good effort by both team,” said Coach Audrey Cabral. “Both pitchers were the victims of wildness due to the cold and the rain.”Like Wilmington Apple on Facebook.
