When and where do you file for office? As mentioned, if candidates wish to be placed on the April 7, 2015 ballot, they must file for office before noon, tomorrow.Council candidates of second class cities which are Wellington and Caldwell, must register at the city clerk’s office. All other cities, considered third class, can register either with the town clerk or at the Sumner County Clerk’s office at the courthouse. All school board candidates must file at the Sumner County Courthouse. 6. Who is running thus far? These are the candidates that Sumner Clerk had as of Friday afternoon here. The City of Wellington had an updated list sent to us thereafter here.Follow us on Twitter. by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The city and school board election filing deadline is at noon tomorrow at noon. Here are a few questions that people have been asking concerning the upcoming local elections. 4. Explain how the city of Wellington at large system works.Wellington reconstructed its council in 2013 from an eight-member council and mayor to a six-member council and mayor. All candidates whether they be council or mayor are now elected at large across the city limits for four-year terms. There are no longer wards. The top three vote-getters will serve on the council, and the top vote-getter will serve as mayor. There are term limits to serve on the council. Those elected this year will serve for two terms before they become ineligible to run. In other words, those elected in 2015 can serve up to 2023. 5. Are there primaries? There are no primaries for Wellington City Council. All other municipalities may or may not have primaries based on how their by-laws are written.A school board race can have a primary. In order to call for a primary according to state statute, there must be “three candidates plus one” – in other words four or more.  If say District 1/Position 1 elects one person, a primary would be called for this position if say a fourth filing for this position occurs. Even though there are four positions open in USD 353, a primary could be called for only one of the positions.
“The significant investments that we have made in recent years in areas such as transfers, recruitment infrastructure, analytics and our academy are already beginning to bear fruit,” said United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.“Our ultimate goal is to win trophies by playing exciting football with a team that fuses graduates from our academy with world-class acquisitions.”United have won five of their last six games in all competitions, but are in serious danger of missing out on the Champions League again next season.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are seventh in the Premier League, nine points adrift of the top four after 12 games. FILE PHOTO: Man Utd Share on: WhatsApp London, United Kingdom | AFP | Manchester United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League is beginning to erode the club’s finances, but increased commercial income helped the English giants post revenues of £135.4 million ($174 million) for the first quarter of the 2019-2020 season on Monday. That represents a £400,000 increase on the same period for the previous year thanks to more sponsorship income and two extra home games compared to the same stage of last season.Broadcasting revenue fell by nearly £10 million due to a lack of Champions League football, which will make an even bigger impact in figures for the second quarter of the year when five of the six group games are played.United are expecting the 2020 annual revenue to fall to between £560-580 million, compared to £627 million for the year ending June 30, 2019 due to the lack of Champions League revenue. However, the failure to qualify for the competition is also reflected in a 6.8 million drop in the club’s wage bill for the first quarter of the season.Net debt rose £137 million to £384.5 million due to spending on players such as Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James in the summer transfer market.
8 June 2007Finance Minister Trevor Manuel has introduced the new Taxation Laws Amendment Bill, which aims to help South Africans manage their savings in an environment of rising personal debt.Manuel told Parliament in Cape Town this week that personal income tax relief would be granted to the public across the board as a result of the “steadily growing economy and administrative efficiencies of the South African Revenue Service”.The tax-free threshold for low-income earners is set to be raised from R40 000 to R43 000, the minister said, while the 18% tax bracket would be raised from R100 000 to R112 500, and the 40% tax bracket from 400 000 to 450 000.Manuel said the raising of thresholds for taxable earnings would effectively put R8.8-billion worth of personal income back into the pockets of taxpayers.“Long-term savings for pension, provident funds and individual retirement annuities can now grow tax-free so as to maximise the savings ‘nest egg’ of future retirees,” Manuel said, noting that the most notable changes to the Bill have been in the area of savings.Another related amendment to the Bill is a new tax regime for lump sum payouts on retirement or death. Under the draft law:The first R300 000 lump sum amount will be tax-free.Amounts between R300 000 to R600 000 will be subject to 18% tax.Amounts between R600 000 to R900 000 will be subject to 27% tax.All amounts above R900 000 will be subject to 36% tax.Manuel said interest and dividend exemption for individuals aged below 65 would increase from R16 500 to R18 000, and for older individuals would increase from R24 500 to R26 000.He added that the exemption for capital gains and losses would increase from R12 500 to R15 000. Tax exemption on donations would also increase from R50 000 to R100 000.In the interest of making sure that individuals “have sufficient funds upon retirement or to pass onto future generations,” estate duty exemption would increase from R2.5-million to R3.5-million.Source: BuaNews
Share Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest As a new round of NAFTA talks begins, public support for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is growing. According to a Pew Research poll, a majority of Americans (56%) now support the NAFTA, an increase from 33% based on previous surveys.A bipartisan group of 76 House members challenged a Trump administration proposal to create a new U.S. content requirement for automobiles to qualify for tariff cuts. In a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, the members said the proposal would “eliminate the competitive advantages provided to the U.S. auto industry under the current NAFTA rules” and hamper the sector’s ability to compete globally. There were 150 food and agriculture organizations that signed a letter to U.S. governors, urging them to express their support for NAFTA to President Trump. The letter detailed the economic benefits of NAFTA realized by livestock agriculture, crops, dairy, spirits, beverages and a wide range of other products. Ag groups also joined a letter to Lighthizer encouraging him to maintain current trucking provisions that facilitate agriculture trade between the United States and Mexico.Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in a public speaking appearance made comments reflecting the administration’s stance on the NAFTA renegotiation. He characterized the president’s position by saying, “His general point of view is no deal is better than a terrible deal.” Ross also asserted that aggressive public advocacy from industry sectors, such as agriculture, is complicating the renegotiation discussions.Mexico’s Economy Minister, Ildefonso Guajardo, said that Mexico will propose a review of NAFTA every five years. Unlike the Trump administration “sunset” proposal, the five-year review proposed by Mexico would not lead to an automatic withdrawal of the agreement if the countries don’t explicitly agree to extend it. He cited the importance of providing more investor certainty as the rationale for Mexico’s proposal.

9 Books That Make Perfect Gifts for Industry Ex… 5 Outdoor Activities for Beating Office Burnout 4 Keys to a Kid-Safe App Related Posts First Paris Metro, then Yelp, now London Buses. The newest is even selling database layers through in-app purchases. It has been widely reported that the API required to display Augmented Reality (AR) layers of data on top of the camera view of a non-jailbroken iPhone 3Gs would not be publicly exposed until the launch of the next version of the iPhone Operating System, expected this Fall. Many developers are patiently waiting, but some have now found a way around the restriction. We just received word of the 3rd AR-enabled app hitting the iTunes store.Earlier this week we reported on Paris Metro Subway as being apparently the first AR-enabled app to be accepted into iTunes. Then, this afternoon Robert Scoble discovered that the new Yelp app includes an AR easter egg that any 3Gs owner can turn on by shaking their phone. Now we’ve received an email from Presselite, the same company that made Paris Metro Subway, letting us know that its London Bus app has been updated to include AR overlays and is also live in the App Store. The London Bus app is even selling data sets through in-app purchases. From its iTunes description:It is now possible to add new Point of Interest (POI) databases to London Bus application via in-app purchase. These options allow you to activate Food & Drink POI, Leisure POI, Attractions POI and Accommodation POI all over the UK.This AR economy is moving faster than we expected. All three of these were existing established apps that received AR capabilities in an update, not dedicated AR apps seeking admission for the first time. We’ve been unable to determine how this was achieved technically (Presselite of course won’t say), but rumor has it that the apps may be leveraging a third-party code base called ARToolkit (or iPhoneARToolkit). Others point to software called ChromelessImagePickerController. Can Apple now fairly deny other apps that seek to bring AR to the iPhone? We can’t imagine that they would shut down Yelp’s wildly successful app.Presumably many developers will continue to wait, hoping that the software they’ve already built will be enabled as soon as next month. Others will probably try to get their apps in ahead of the official announcement of AR support from Apple. That’s got to take some wind out of the sails of those companies that have been waiting patiently. They may only be the beginning and they may not be high-profile or officially supported by Apple yet, but it couldn’t be clearer: Augmented Reality apps have come to the iPhone. marshall kirkpatrick Tags:#Augmented Reality#Features#news#NYT#web 12 Unique Gifts for the Hard-to-Shop-for People…

I don’t want to be wrong but I think everyone realises! You cannot pay (the price) for one.”One person cannot create a mess in a club like Arsenal. Arsenal is going to take a big decision, with responsibility to fix. People have to behave and celebrate, and support your team but in the right way.”It’s such a dangerous thing, if the bottle hit him on his head or his eyes we’re then talking about a very bad thing. There’s no point when you go to enjoy a game and that happens.”
Ex-Spurs boss Redknapp: Why’d Pochettino want to start again at Man Utd?by Paul Vegas9 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveFormer Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has questioned whether Mauricio Pochettino would want the Manchester United job.The rumours have understandably upset Spurs fans, although Redknapp believes it is far from guaranteed that Pochettino will accept a move to Old Trafford.“It’s a difficult one,” Redknapp told BBC 5 Live. “He’s obviously getting very, very well paid where he is. It’s a good club, they’ve got a great training ground. They’ve got a brand new stadium coming.”He’s got a good team. He’s got to go and build a team at Man United. For me they’re still way short of being a team that could win the league again. I think the back four needs absolute surgery there.“I still think they’re quite well short of where they want to be. So I don’t know — does he jump ship and go and start again and look to rebuild there where he’s absolutely loved at White Hart Lane?”It’s a difficult situation for him I’ll be truthful I would think his life’s pretty good at the moment. He’s absolutely there idolised by the fans. I think it would be difficult for him to leave personally. Even though Man Utd is an amazing football club, we all know that.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say
